You may have noticed that most fragrances (and other personal care products) do not disclose their full list of ingredients - because they legally don’t have to! ‘Fragrance’ is a trade secret and over the years has become a loophole for potentially harmful chemicals.

We believe that transparency builds trust and you deserve to know what you are putting on your body. We thoughtfully source only the safest, validated ingredients so you can feel confident in the products you are using. I’m Ashlee, a mom, entrepreneur, chemical engineer, and the founder of State of Change. I have spent the last 15 years working in the fragrance industry in just about every aspect – and have seen behind the curtain of this unregulated, unsustainable industry.

Most consumers do not realize that having the word “fragrance” on a label can represent 300+ ingredients that aren’t required to be disclosed or regulated, many of which can cause serious health issues (not just allergies). That is absurd to me!

I expect safe ingredients, full transparency, and responsible practices from the brands that I choose to put on my body. When I realized that did not exist in fine fragrance, I set out to create it myself. And that is how State of Change was born.

Two years later and we are more than just a fine fragrance brand, State of Change is a movement. A community of people who believe that transparency is of utmost importance and that safety of ingredients and sustainability do not need to be compromised to have an immersive, multi-sensory experience.

Our scents are about taking a moment for yourself - a chance to pause and celebrate the moment you’re in. They are meant to be layered, as a form of self-expression to reflect your current state of mind.
